How do you make pest control and scientific sounding names such as 'nematodes' sound exciting and informative to the public, especially when the product is virtually invisible? By transforming what seems, to the uneducated mind, to be a plastic tray containing some brown stuff into a leading brand of organic pest control through active brand management and product design.

Becker Underwood Brief: Market new type of organic pest control, develop brand image and design, implement public awareness about how the product works, highlight the benefits of this particular brand and keep the public abreast of further product developments.

Action: Maintenance of brand management and promotion through packaging design, website construction and content management, production of newsletters, press releases leading to positive editorial, publication of endorsements and advertising. Working closely with the producers' distribution partners to enhance their own programmes and maintaining brand awareness in their promotional material. For 2008 Nemaslug was taken to 6 high profile gardening shows, including the RHS shows at Chelsea, Hampton Court and Tatton Park plus BBC Gardeners World Live.

Result: Nemaslug and the Nemasys brand of pest controls have increased in sales volumes year on year... and there's more growth to come.
