Newnham Court Shopping Village
How do you transform a loose collection of shops based around a garden centre into a regional shopping entity in its
own right?
Brief: To help Newnham Court grow and appeal to a wider audience within its catchment area.
Action: We prepared a report setting out a series of actions that included on-site physical recommendations as well
as a new brand image, updating and repositioning the site as a shopping village. To help visitors find their way around a
confusing site route, we recommended new signage, incorporating the brand to reinforce the new site image. We also created
a new website (
www.newnhamcourt.co.uk) and were involved with
the mixed marketing programme that included advertising, events, leaflets and even a magazine, The Villager, which marked
the 25th anniversary of the original site. It proved so popular it ran for 6 more issues over 3 years before it was
necessary to switch to something new in order to keep people's attention.
Result: Newnham Court Shopping Village has increased in popularity - to the extent that more national household
names have located there, increasing its appeal. Site improvements have been carried out and there are even plans for
redevelopment.
Feedback: "DSH PR have been working successfully with us to promote our brand and range of products in the home and
garden consumer market. As a result, our brand has gained considerable recognition over the years." Dr Graeme Gowling,
European General Manager, Becker Underwood.
